In June, we continued developing the environment of the Capsule location. This stage focused on the details that bring individual objects together into a coherent scene and give a place its own character.
Homefall relies on the contrast between the technology of the old world and an Earth that no longer feels like home. We want that contrast to be present in the spaces players explore, not only in dialogue: familiar structures, natural surroundings, and traces of time should all contribute to it.
Environment work does not always introduce a new mechanic, but it shapes the experience of exploration. A location should support what happens there rather than feel like a separate backdrop. We approach it as part of the game's broader visual language.
This iteration of secondary environment art is complete. We are continuing to build Homefall through these details, from larger spaces to the individual scenes in which players encounter a changed Earth.
